The author examines the peculiarities of the current state of Ukraine's struggle for its sovereignty and territorial integrity against the war on the part of the Russian Federation and reveals the need to oppose the aggressor's attacks with both military power and the values and meanings of democracy, which is meaningfully reflected in the concept of national development. The author identifies the fundamental provisions of the concept, the importance of its scientific substantiation and approval by the general public, as well as its effective motivational impact on the modernization of social and governmental relations. The author emphasizes the uniqueness of the national situation, which determines the need for a creative, innovative approach, the impossibility of mechanical borrowing or duplication of other people's ideas and principles, which, in particular, applies to the well-known concept of libertarian paternalism.
