The article considers the application of the benchmarking methodology for assessing the effectiveness of management of the development of territorial communities. On this basis, a comparison of the effectiveness of management of the development of urban territorial communities belonging to the main industrial centers of Lviv region is made. The study takes into account three groups of indicators characterizing the economic, environmental and social spheres of urban territorial communities. It is noted that the results of such an assessment make it possible to identify shortcomings in the management of the development of territorial communities and can be used for future monitoring of changes in the management competencies of their leadership
